Crestmont
Council Chair Jim Reeves recently announced the appointment of
Council member John Schuricht to chair the Council’s Property
Committee. This committee provides counsel and oversight to Crestmont
College’s physical plant and property resources. Training
Principal Steve Smith commented that “John Schuricht is well-placed
in this appointment; he is very supportive of the college and the
Salvation Army, and he has the talents we need in this role.” John
is a practicing structural and civil design engineer and a principal
of his own firm, Palos Verdes Engineering. John completed his undergraduate
and graduate training in engineering at California State University,
Long Beach.
Prior to joining and directing Palos Verdes Engineering, John headed
the Structural Engineering department at the South Bay Engineering
Corporation for twelve years from 1978 – 1990 and was a Senior
Facilities Engineer at Hughes Aircraft Company in El Segundo, CA
from 1966 – 1978. He brings over forty years of engineering
experience to his clients. He has been named as an expert witness
in more than two hundred cases to date. He investigates and reports
on structural distress, construction defects and seismic analysis.
His service on our Council is a distinct asset, and for that we are
grateful.
John lives in Palos Verdes Estates with his wife Kathy, a travel
agent; John is an active member and past-President of the Palos Verdes
Peninsula Rotary Club. He is a talented musician and quite a soccer
enthusiast.
John and Kathy are wonderful parents to their three children, Elizabeth,
Mike and Andy. Most importantly, he is a friend of the Army, and
we are fortunate to have him in our midst.
