Christmas In Africa - A Hurge Success!

The Christmas in Africa party was a HUGE success!!  The kids had an amazing time.  I would have to say that I don't think I had seen them all smile so much before!  When they came in, you could hear them all saying "WOW" and "Happy Birthday Jesus"!!

I think snack time was my favorite part of the party.  I had to show them how to eat cupcakes.  I guess they don't eat them much.  A bunch of the kids kept touching the ice cream and kept saying “Ohhhhh, baridi” (cold).

The best came at the end of snack time when I looked over and saw little Nduko covered in melted ice cream.  She tried to lick ALL of it off her plate, but gravity was not kind to her.  But that didn't stop about five others from trying it out also.  One of my favorites, is named Constant.  He tried to preserve his juice for the longest amount of time, so he drank his juice with a spoon!

Now on to the presents.  While the kiddies were napping, I brought all the presents into the room and covered them with blankets.   Then we said.. “well I guess it's time to go”..and then I removed the blanket!  I don't think they knew what to do with themselves!  Some just stared as their eyes got bigger and bigger.  Some giggled and others were just silent.   Each child received a present.  One of the kids kept repeating “Happy Birthday!” “Happy Birthday!”  I love my kids!

But this is my favorite story of the day:  Winnie who lives at the Children's home refused to wear her school uniform that day because she said she wanted to look smart (good) for the party and her school uniform was not smart enough.  So she wore her best dress.

AND last but not least; THANK YOU for all your help and making the party possible!
